The 17th Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk with the message “Footsteps for sharing” took place in Phu My Hung, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City in the morning of January 8, 2022. The event raised VND 3.4 billion to support the needy to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
The Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk is the annual charity activity organized by Phu My Hung Corporation in collaboration with the People’s Committees of District 7, District 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh Counties to raise funds for the poor.
VND 3.4 billion was raised by the People’s Committees of District 7, District 8, Nha Be County, Binh Chanh County and Phu My Hung Corporation in this year’s Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk.
All the above fundrasing amount was transferred to “For the Poor” Funds of District 7, District 8, Nha Be County, Binh Chanh County; “Hearts together” (Chung mot tam long) Fund of Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV); “Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients” of the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports and some other organizations.
“This is not the first time I participate in the Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk. But this time, it feels so different because our city has just gone through a very difficult period. Giving a hand to help the needy at this time is even more meaningful.”, said Miss Tourism Vietnam Ngoc Diem.
Coming to the chairty walk, besides the spirit of sharing difficulties with the needy, Boxer Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat also encouraged everyone to actively do exercises through sports activities to be healthy.
To ensure the prevention and control of the pandemic, this year’s event was organized with smaller and simpler scale with around 1,000 participants.
Wearing masks, making medical declarations, sanitizing hands, measuring body temperature, etc. were implemented at the event.
Up to now, through 17 years, the Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk has raised more than VND 41 billion to support the needy through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Districts and Counties through practical activities including: Giving Tet Gifts; Building houses of gratitude; Building houses of love; House repair; Capital support, etc.
