Closing of OPOS English Summer Camp

On the morning of July 5, 2023, the OPOS English Summer Camp (One Place One Story) officially closed after 10 days of exciting events. The camp was organized by the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation in coordination with Saigon South International School (SSIS) and Lawrence S. Ting School at Le Hong Phong Secondary School in Soc Trang Province.

On the closing day, 90 campers, who were middle school students from disadvantaged backgrounds in Soc Trang Province, divided into groups and gave presentations in English on topics such as festivals, food, and tourism. These are the first results that the OPOS English Summer Camp aimed for. Furthermore, from the summer camp, campers gained excitement and passion for English, as well as spreading the spirit of sharing in the community.

The OPOS English Summer Camp aims to improve the English skills of students in grades 6 and 7 who are facing difficult circumstances. This achieved through learning, playing and direct contact between campers and volunteers in camp activities. This year, OPOS English Summer Camp has participation of 40 volunteers who are high school students of SSIS and Lawrence S. Ting School, as well as some international volunteers from the US and Taiwan (China).

The Lawrence S. Ting Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2005 with the aim of supporting the community in the fields of education, health, and society. Over the years, the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation and Phu My Hung Corporation have carried out many practical and large-scale social programs across the country, such as the Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship, Moving Forward with IT, Wheelchairs of Love, and Our Better Angels.
