With the support of Phu My Hung Corporation, Nomura Real Estate Vietnam Co., Ltd. (NREV) will launch a unique pilot project called “Night Park” at P2 Park, Tan Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The event will offer a free community space for relaxation, play, and creativity under the theme “A Park you can play in – in the Rainy season and After dark”.
The concept of “Night Park” was inspired by Ho Chi Minh City’s climate and lifestyle. During the rainy season, from May to November, sudden showers often leave parks deserted for hours or even days. In addition, the daytime heat can discourage people from visiting parks, while evenings are when urban residents are more likely to seek outdoor activities. However, nighttime activities in parks remain limited compared with the actual demand.
With the aim of bringing innovation and making a positive contribution to community life, NREV has developed and piloted “Night Park” – a park that does not wait for the rain to stop, but instead embraces rain as part of the play experience. It also serves as a plaza of light, extending the hours during which public spaces can be enjoyed.
In short, rather than viewing rain and darkness as limitations, “Night Park” offers a new perspective by turning rainwater and nighttime light into elements for play and learning, creating engaging experiences for the community while encouraging children and families to spend more time outdoors.
The “Night Park” pilot at P2 Park will be open daily from 15:00 to 20:00 in about two months, from September 4 to November 1, 2026, and will feature two special zones: Night Plaza and Rain Park.
Night Plaza: A space combining light and culture, highlighted by an octahedral lighting installation with modular panels that can be rearranged into tables and chairs. Activities include water-splashing games inspired by a Japanese tradition, as well as planting workshops where children can learn to grow and care for ornamental plants and herbs in small pots, fostering an appreciation for nature and a sense of responsibility.
Rain Park: Inspired by the Mekong Delta tradition of collecting rainwater in large clay vessels, this area serves as an educational playground. A 20-meter rainwater collection system filters and stores rainwater, allowing children to observe the process and learn about the natural water cycle. The area also features mist-spraying facilities for cooling, as well as hand-washing and rest areas for evening exercisers.
Beyond these two zones, “Night Park” will also feature several other activities and highlights: Opening ceremony and rainwater collection demonstrations (September 5 – 6, 2026); Water Festival in conjunction with the Phu My Hung Mid-Autumn Festival 2026; Community feedback and visitor surveys.
