Phu My Hung Spring Flower Festival: From Flower Market to “Spring of Unity”

Starting from a small flower market opened by Phu My Hung Corporation in 2004 to serve residents, the Phu My Hung Spring Flower Festival has continuously expanded and developed over the years, becoming one of the city’s familiar spring destinations, attracting millions of visitors annually.

Each year, Phu My Hung Flower Street leaves its mark with unique themes that honor traditional cultural values and the rustic beauty of the countryside. These include images of home villages with rice fields, straw stacks, wells, and village gates under themes such as Back to the Village and Harvest Season; or the watery landscapes of the Mekong Delta with boats, floating markets, aquatic flowers, and flower villages under themes like Spring on the Water and Bringing Fortune from Flower Fields. Alongside these are themes expressing aspirations and hopes for the nation’s spring, such as Joyful Spring, Prosperous Spring, Spring of Reunion, and Spring Symphony. Together, they have created a distinctive identity for the Phu My Hung Spring Flower Festival – a Tet space that is elegant and modern yet deeply rooted in national culture and the rhythms of homeland life.

Entering the year of the Horse 2026, the cultural flow of the festival continues with the theme “Spring of Unity”. This theme represents not only family reunions after a busy year but also broader connections: between regions following Ho Chi Minh City’s administrative boundary adjustments, and between generations of Vietnamese people both at home and abroad.

Within the vibrant space of Phu My Hung Flower Street for Tet 2026, “Spring of Unity” will unfold as a visual journey filled with spring colors across many mini-scenes arranged along the 700-meter stretch by Crescent Lake. Each segment of the Flower Street is a piece of the puzzle telling stories of connection – between tradition and modernity, between people and nature, and between regions after administrative mergers.

Right from the starting point, the spirit of connection is expressed through the blending of traditional materials and contemporary design language. A 4.5-meter-high horse mascot with bold polygonal shapes stands beside a sturdy village bamboo hedge, symbolizing the aspiration to rise while remaining rooted in national heritage.

The aspiration for regional connection is vividly depicted in the central mini-scene “Spring of Unity – Stepping Firmly into the Future”. Inspired by the Metro line, a vital transportation link of the city, this scene cleverly integrates heritage symbols from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria–Vung Tau. Flowing light patterns connect landmarks such as Notre Dame Cathedral and Ben Thanh Market with the Winged Seed Tower and Lighthouse, reflecting a vision of synchronized development and harmony among localities after boundary expansion.

The theme of unity extends further in the mini-scene “Sails Reaching Far” on Crescent Lake. Models of basket boats and traditional wooden boats blend with artistic lighting, evoking the origins of the sea and journeys outward to the world. This message becomes even clearer at the end of Flower Street, where the radiant “2026” installation features a red horse mascot rising high against traditional motifs, conveying faith in a prosperous spring where communities at home and abroad join hands to build a bright future.

The connection between traditional and modern values is also portrayed through various Bính Ngọ mascot mini-scenes. The “Spring of Triumph” scene recreates the legend of Saint Gióng with aspirations of rising strong, while the “Four Seasons of Blossoms” horse-drawn carts filled with fresh flowers evoke nostalgic, familiar emotions of Vietnamese villages. These rustic carts, placed under colorful sail-like structures, serve not only as viewing stops but also as bridges linking the memories of the elderly with the imagination of the younger generation. The “Street of Calligraphy Masters” mini-scene, with its modernized open and minimalist design, reinterprets the cultural tradition of calligraphy during spring.

The Phu My Hung Spring Flower Festival 2026 will be open to visitors from February 11 to February 20, 2026 (24th day of the 12th lunar month to the 4th day of Tet). The Opening Ceremony will take place at 18:00 on February 11, 2026 (24th day of the 12th lunar month).
