Ting (whose Vietnamese name was Dinh Thien Ly), the late Chairman of CT&D Group and Phu My Hung Development Corporation, believed that business transcends material ambitions when it serves the greater purpose of helping as many people as possible.

This belief became the guiding principle behind his investment and business activities in Vietnam, laying the foundation for his successors to establish the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation in 2005. The Foundation was supported by contributions from Phu My Hung Corporation, Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Company Limited, Phu Hung Group, and other member companies within the Group.

Over the past two decades, the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation has implemented numerous community support programs and initiatives in education, healthcare, and social welfare. Among these, the Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship Program stands out for its noble mission of sowing the seeds of compassion and volunteerism in society.

To date, through 23 scholarship award ceremonies organized directly and in collaboration with social and charitable organizations, the Foundation has awarded approximately 125,878 scholarships to disadvantaged students, ethnic minority youth, children with disabilities, and orphans across Vietnam. With the support of these scholarships, thousands of graduates have gone on to become bachelors, engineers, doctors, teachers, and other professionals, establishing themselves in their respective fields and actively contributing to national development.

More than just financial assistance to help cover educational expenses, the Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship represents a message of love, trust, and high expectations for the younger generation. Accordingly, active participation in community service has been incorporated into the scholarship selection criteria in recent years. The Foundation firmly believes that compassionate hearts are like vibrant green sprouts, helping the spirit of volunteerism take root and flourish throughout the community.

Notably, in 2025, the Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship Program underwent a significant change in its award structure. Rather than providing a fixed amount as in previous years, each scholarship is now calculated based on the actual tuition fees for the recipient’s chosen field of study and university. By covering 100% of tuition fees for one academic year, the program aims to ease students’ financial burdens and allow them to focus more fully on their studies.

The 24th Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship Awards is scheduled for October 24, 2026, with approximately 160 scholarships to be awarded directly. This year, the program will also expand its eligibility to include students from two additional institutions: Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture and the University of Information Technology.

In addition, in 2026, the Lawrence S. These organizations will select eligible recipients and distribute scholarships to local students on behalf of the Foundation.

As the Lawrence S.
